SUMMARY: Hurricane Fiona aftermath in Puerto Rico is substantial. According to LUMA, power much of the island territory remains without power, with 23.5% of all cell sites out of commission. Fiona is now headed toward the Turks and Caicos islands. In Sudan, the UK FCDO issued a travel advisory concerning areas of the country which are “do not travel.” Yesterday Mexico had a major earthquake with its epicenter near Aquila, Mexico (near the Pacific coast).

Puerto Rico - The damage to the power grid in Puerto Rico caused by Hurricane Fiona was substantial. While portions of the island territory of Puerto Rico has power back (286,000 customers) as of 0900 ET, 20 September, the current LUMA outage map shows widespread outages. LUMA continues to provide periodic updates via their Twitter Feed. According to the FCC, approximately 23.5% of all cell sites in Puerto Rico are out of service at this time.
Sudan - The UK Government has issued a travel advisory (see below) for the Sudan for security reasons.
Turks and Caicos Islands - Bahamas - Dominican Republic - Puerto Rico - From the National Weather Service
Active Systems: The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane Fiona, located near the Turks and Caicos islands. Outer bands continue to drop substantive amounts of rain over the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Tropical storm warnings have been issued for the Bahamas.
Mexico - From the National Weather Service
"Tropical Storm Madeline, is bending westward and no coastal warnings are currently in effect. Mexico - from the U.S. Geological Survey - Earthquake A significant earthquake (M7.6) 37 kms southeast of Aquila, Mexico. This earthquake has been followed by a number of aftershock. The earthquake was felt as far away as Mexico City.
