SUMMARY: Tensions are high on the Korean Peninsula, as US-ROK military exercises continue and the DPRK is launching missiles into the sea, including an apparently failed ICBM. In Ecuador, the situation has continued to deteriorate in Guayaquil, the government had declared a State of Emergency. Due to unrest the U.S. Embassy has restricted movements of Embassy personnel within Mogadishu. South Africa is about to experience a nationwide strike of civil servants and four of the nation’s unions, which may cause disruption in services. In the United States pediatric hospital bed shortage has become a reality, 17 states are more than 80 percent full. The children are being admitted in record numbers suffering from one or more of three respiratory ailments: COVID, pneumonia, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). In what appears to have been a targeted attack, former prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan was shot in the foot.

Ecuador: The situation in Guayaquil, Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo, and Duran remains dangerous. The Govt. of Ecuador declared a 30-day State of Emergency for Guayas & Esmeraldas provinces. Five Ecuadorian police officers and 2 citizens have been killed. Remain vigilant and monitor local media. (State Department)
Somalia: The U.S. Embassy introduced travel restrictions for U.S. govt personnel in Mogadishu for the immediate future (State Department)
North Korea: The country continues to launch missiles as a form of protest to the US-South Korea military exercises. An ICBM was launched and apparently failed, falling into the Sea of Japan. Tensions remain high. (Reuters)
South Africa: Civil servants in South Africa nationwide strike from Nov. 4. Four South African labor unions took a step toward joining the strike. (Bloomberg)
Pakistan: Former prime minister Imran Khan was shot in the foot in what appears to have been a targeted attack. He was traveling within Punjab in a truck. (NPR)
