Securely Travel Alert - Civil Unrest

Lebanon - Entering three weeks of political protests continue throughout Lebanon. Ironically, 24 hours after resigning as prime minister, Saad Hariri has emerged as a favorite to be re-elected.

Chile - Peaceful protests over the weekend turned violent. The government of Australia warned travelers, ” Due to civil unrest, expect an increased security presence across Chile. Road check points may apply in some cities. Avoid protests and follow advice from local authorities. Exercise a high degree of caution in Chile”

Bolivia - The government of Australia is warning travelers “the political situation remains unpredictable. Expect roadblocks, traffic and transport disruptions. Avoid demonstrations. We haven’t changed the level - exercise a high degree of caution in Bolivia.

Mali - Terrorist attack near the border with Niger resulted in 49 dead. Travelers should avoid the Mali-Niger border area.

Securely Travel - India air pollution

India - Air quality in New Delhi is at extremely dangerous levels. For up-to-date air quality index for various areas in the city a real time dashboard is availed: Air Quality Index Dashboard New Delhi. Primary and secondary schools are canceled for 04 and 05 November. Numerous flights have been diverted from Delhi due to limited visibility and more are expected. Travelers who venture out into the weather in New Delhi should ensure they are wearing masks given the high particle content of foreign objects in the air.

Mexico - 2019 has seen an increase in cases of Dengue. According to the Ministry of Health, through June 2019 there have been more than 20,000 reported cases, which have resulted in 89 deaths. The states of Jalisco (7,622 w/20 deaths), Veracruz (7,617 cases w/15 deaths) and Chiapas (2,037 cases w/16 deaths) recorded the most cases of Dengue. WHO advises that Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection which causes flu-like illness, and can be lethal.

India - Air quality is at severe, unprecedented, unhealthy levels in New Delhi (see above Health entry).

Mexico - Volcano Popocatépetl had a series of minor eruptions on 2 and 3 November resulting in ash being sent high into the atmosphere.
