Hong Kong - Hong Kong protests continue, with spontaneity being the watchword - as protesters and police move from place to place. Major thoroughfares are blocked until riot police come to clear the road. The police assurances following the shooting of a student protester earlier in the week that they would stand down on physical confrontations do not appear to be holding. South China Morning Post reports that today’s violent clashes are occurring at Chinese University campus.
Bolivia - Following the coup d’etat and resignation of Bolivian president Evo Morales, the military and police have taken steps to bring calm to the nation. Demonstrations, according to multiple diplomatic reporters (Canada, United States) have become larger and more violent. Morales, flew out of the country late evening of 11 November after having accepted the invitation of asylum in Mexico from the Mexican government. A power vacuum in the leadership of Bolivia remains. Israel - The Israeli Foreign Ministry reports numerous rocket attacks originating from Gaza are landing in Southern Israel. Multiple governments (United States, United Kingdom and Australia) have issued alerts. The US Embassy suspended non-emergency services at the consulate in Tel Aviv and urged constituents (resident and visitor) to reacquaint themselves to the location of the closest shelter and to remain vigilant.
Chile - A nationwide strike has been called for today in Chile’s major cities. According to Reuters, the demonstrations often devolve into arson, riots and looting. Public transport will be impacted. Travelers should be mindful of their surroundings and plan their routes carefully.

Global: Pneumonia - The World Health Organization issued global warnings concerning pneumonia and the risk of death, especially among the young and elderly.

Australia - Following yesterday’s Securely Travel Alert - NSW RFS advises fire danger remains in Sydney, Hunter and Illawara area with an expectation of temperatures in the 30C range, with winds of 80KPH.
United States - The National Weather Service has “Deep Freeze” continues through today, 12 November. Heavy snow in the northern plains and record breaking low temperatures in the central and eastern portions of the United States from the norther border down to the Gulf Coast.
