Hong Kong - Violence continues to escalate. Molotov cocktails are being thrown into businesses and on and at police by the more militant of the protesters. Hong Kong police are showing less tolerance and are escalating to violence seemingly on a short fuse according to media coverage.
Bolivia - Yesterday the United States downgraded Bolivia to a DO NOT TRAVEL country. In addition, all dependents and non-emergency personnel have been ordered out of Bolivia by the U.S. Embassies in La Paz will have limited ability to respond to citizen emergencies during this time of civil unrest. Israel - Rocket attacks from Islamic Jihad in the Gaza have spread to central Israel. The US Embassy suspended non-emergency services at the consulate in Tel Aviv and urged constituents (resident and visitor) to reacquaint themselves to the location of the closest shelter and to remain vigilant.
Mexico - The international airport in Mexico City was the center of police protests affecting travelers at Terminal One, as police protest their inclusion into the National Guard force. Travelers should expect continued protests to occur and plan accordingly.

China - Pneumonic Plague has been detected in patients transferred to Beijing from inner-Mongolia. Symptoms include fever, headache, shortness of breath, chest pain, and cough. CDC Factsheet on plague. Travelers to inner-Mongolia should take note.

Italy - High tides (Acqua Alta) and rain have caused massive flooding in the port city of Venice at the highest level since 1966. Water has been measured between 6 and 8 feet above normal. Travel to Venice at this time is discouraged.
Australia - Wildfires have grown to 150 in number and continue to threaten metro areas according to the Australian government. Well over 1 million acres have burned.
