1 - Hong Kong - Protests continue through 01 October holiday - PRC National Day

Multiple governments (UK, Canada and Australia) have advised citizens traveling or resident in Hong Kong to the continuation of demonstrations throughout Hong Kong. While the protests have been reducing in number of participants, they are increasing in the number of violent incidents between the police and protesters. The occasion of PRC National Day on 01 October provides a lightening rod for protests, which are planned for the Victoria Park to Central. Travelers are urged to monitor local media as they move about Hong Kong during the next few days.
The specifics of the UK’s advice:
In recent months, large-scale political demonstrations have taken place throughout Hong Kong. Protests have affected many areas, including those popular with tourists. While a number of peaceful activities have taken place, many other protests have led to clashes between police and protesters involving significant violence. Reports suggest a number of protests are likely to take place on the days leading up to 1 October, including:
* on the afternoons of 28 and 29 September in Causeway Bay and Admiralty.
* on the afternoon of 1 October from Victoria Park to Central.
2 - Mali - Police Union demonstrations
The governments of the US and Canada both advise their citizens to be cautious on 27 September as a demonstration organized by the Police Union will begin at 8am on Sep. 27 starting at Police Headquarters in Bamako. Demonstrations are intended to be peaceful but the situation may become unstable. Expect traffic and avoid affected areas.
3 - Cuba - Widespread electricity and fuel shortages
The government of Cuba has advised the population that widespread electricity and fuel shortages are continuing due to lack of imported fuel. The government has said they will announce planned brown/black-outs prior to flipping the switch. It is expected that tour operators, hotels and shared accommodations may be in the best position to advise tourists if their facilities will be affected.
