Iraq - The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad had it’s outer perimeter and at least one out building breached by pro-Iranian militia. Iraqi security forces arrived after a fashion and pushed the intruders out of the compound and away from the compound perimeter. Travelers from the U.S. to Iraq and other locales where Iranian influence is prominent should not wear clothing which identifies them a U.S. citizens for personal safety reasons.
Hong Kong - The new year will arrive with widespread protests, as the pro-democracy citizenry continues their six-month effort to bring attention to Beijing’s handling of the SAR Hong Kong.

United States - Travelers within and to the United States should ensure they have been vaccinated for the flu prior to travel. According to the Center for Disease Control influenza monitoring project, CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 4.6 million flu illnesses, 39,000 hospitalizations and 2,100 deaths from flu.

Australia - Wildfires are spreading beyond the point of control forcing thousands to evacuate to the sea. Travelers to and within Australia should be very mindful of the situation where they are and where they intend to go as the situation is most fluid.
United States - Winter weather continues to hammer that north-central U.S., with heavy rain expected in the Pacific Northwest.
