Burundi - Cross border attack from DRC leaves 26 dead in Ruhagarika in Cibitoke province
Travelers to Burundi should avoid the Northwest area of Burunid, Cibitoke province given the cross border activity in remote villages. While press reports have not identified the group which perpatrated this attack, it is believed to have been carried out by exiled Burundi groups.
The country is preparing for a referendum which will extend the term of President Pierre Nkurunziza, who has led the country since 2005, until 2034.

Indonesia - Surabaya has experienced four attacks in the past two days.
Three suicide bombers attacked churches on Sunday, 13 May and then on 14 May the Police Headquarters in Surabaya was attacked by a suicide bomber. ISIS has claimed responsibility.

France - Terrorist knife attack in Paris
A Chechen-born French citizen, 20-year old male, killed one person and was then killed by police. A video made by the attacker includes his declaration to the Islamic State.
Travelers are urged to remain alert, travel in groups if at all possible.

Kenya - Kenya has begins screening travelers for Ebola
As reported in a prior Securely Travel Brief, the Ebola outbreak in the DRC has prompted states, including Nigeria to screen travelers for Ebola. Now Kenya has joined in the screening for Ebola of all individuals arriving from infected areas.
