Today’s brief is culled from global travel warnings and alerts.

United States - Flash flood risk high in the Midwest and South continues

Meteorologists are calling for heavy rains through Sunday, 24 June. These rains will increase the risk for flash flooding throughout the Midwest and South. For example, Richmond International airport was closed temporarily due to flash flood conditions which inundated the airport. ABC News reports

There were nearly 150 damaging storm reports Tuesday from Washington, D.C., to Denver, including five reported tornadoes, with many of the areas looking at more rain and possible flooding Wednesday.

Papua New Guinea - Reconsider travel

The government of Australia has renewed their travel advisory for Papua New Guinea, advising travelers to “reconsider travel.”

France - Strikes 23-26 June affecting air travel

The UK FCO has issued a warning to travelers heading to France on Air France to make sure that their flight is still flying.

There are planned strikes at Air France and its subsidiaries from 23 to 26 June. You should check with your airline before travelling. A series of rolling strikes are planned on SNCF trains, comprising 2 days of strikes every 5 days, between 3 April and 28 June 2018. Strike dates can be found on the SNCF website. Be aware that strikes and disruptions may occur outside of these dates. You should check with your train operator for updates before travelling and allow extra time for your journey.
