Nicaragua - Civil unrest continues, UK, Canada, Australia, Costa Rica & US warn

The US and UK embassies are warning their citizens against travel to Nicaragua as the missions are limited in their ability to provide assistance to US or UK citizens during this period of severe unrest.

Canada urges travelers to register their presence with the Canadian mission. Costa Rica Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged citizens to avoid travel.

The US and UK embassies are warning their citizens against travel to Yeravan as demonstrations continue, with no end date identified. Travelers are warne dto avoid demonstrations and carry identification at all times.

Radio Free Liberty reports that the leader of the protests, Nikol Pashinian has been detained.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has renewed a travel warning advising citizens against visiting Egypt during the state of emergency, which was recently extended for another three months

Travelers are urged to sign up to the Tawajudi “my presence”, where Emiratis can register their locations while travelling, on a secure and confidential ministry website, which would allow the government to assist them in emergencies.

Members in the capital Brasilia on 23-27 April should avoid all gatherings associated with a protest camp by indigenous activists at Citizenship Square. The camp is being organised over various issues, including alleged confiscation of land belonging to indigenous communities. Gatherings organised by indigenous groups have the potential to turn violent, posing incidental risks to bystanders. In April 2017, the police used tear gas to disperse an unruly protest by indigenous groups near the National Congress in the capital.
