2020 - Kilauea wants a word

The evening of 20 December Kilauea (Big Island, Hawaii) erupted, putting her exclamation point on the year 2020 with an eruption of lava which included a 165-foot plume. The photos from the USGS Volcanoes are spectacular. This thermal GIF gives you a feel for the raw power of the eruption.

The eruption is not expected to affect travel into the Big Island of Hawaii.
