Airtags keep an eye on your luggage

The Apple AirTags (or equivalent) have many uses, allowing you to keep an eye on your luggage seems to be one of the most practicable. We all know that our luggage doesn’t always arrive when we do, especially when we have a flight connection to navigate when engaged in international travel. Knowing where your bag is and that it is moving through the system as it should provides a modicum of peace of mind.

Watching your luggage’s journey with AirTags

How useful were the AirTags? According to Sandra W, a German national residing in the U.S. who recently traveled to Germany, she used the AirTags the last time she and her son traveled to Germany. She loved it as she was able to keep tabs on her luggage the entire time. She said they were lucky and nothing was lost but their flights had been delayed while traveling back home, and it made her feel better knowing where her luggage was.

Then we have the case of “Boarding Soon” whose travel experience was less than optimal when her bag was separated from her and took up residence at DCA (Reagan National Airport, WDC). We’ve all experienced the taxi or delivery service which drops our bags at our homes one, two sometimes three days after we get home. “Boarding Soon” knew where her bags were, even if United Airlines didn’t seem to have a clue.

We concur with “Boarding Soon” and her avoidance of checking luggage. Her use of the Apple AirTags no doubt gave her peace of mind, that her bags were in proximity, even though seemingly buried within United’s DCA left luggage department.

We think Apple AirTags make sense to place within our luggage. Some airlines like, Delta, update their online app to let you know when your bag has been placed on the plane, when your luggage tag is scanned. That doesn’t help you though, if it gets lost in the internal system at the airport which was the case at DCA. Additionally, as we wrote previously, they have helped law enforcement stymy crime, and if you are at all like me, knowing where my bag is gives me piece of mind.
