Belize drug violence results in shooting of innocent U.S. tourist

New Year’s eve in the tourist locale of San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. was marred with the killing of Ј’Вrіа Місhеllе Воwеnѕ, 23, а vіѕіtіng Аmеrісаn nurѕіng ѕtudеnt оf Іndіаnароlіѕ, Іndіаnа was shot and killed. Bowens was visiting family members and was sitting in the backseat of a golf cart in the Central park area of San Pedro Town, when several shots were fired toward an individual standing by the Јаguаrѕ Nіght Сlub.

“Police Commissioner Chester Williams told 7 News Belize that Bowens was not the intended target, and that investigators suspect the shooting is related to drug gangs in San Pedro. Breakingnewsbelize.com reported that the killer was firing towards a man standing by Jaguars Night Club.”

The United States Embassy in Belize confirmed the death of a U.S. citizen there and said it was monitoring the investigation.
