The revelation of a new COVID strain in the UK has resulted in a multitude of countries restricting entry of travelers from the UK. These countries are:
- France
- Germany
- Italy
- Russia
- India
- Canada
- Netherlands
- Denmark
- Poland
- Belgium
- Austria
- Ireland
- Norway
- Bulgaria
- Israel
- Hong Kong
- El Salvador
France took the draconian step of banning ALL travel from the UK for 48 hours beginning 21 December - this ban included commercial traffic. This step effectively caused all ports in the UK servicing French ports to become congested and the Eurostar train service between the UK and EU to halt.
Meanwhile, in the U.S., New York’s Governor, Andrew Coumo has issued a plea for the federal government (Department of Transportation, Department of Homeland Security, Health and Human Services) to ban or severely restrict travel to the United States (specifically JFK airport in New York City).
