The folks over at Yahoo News are reporting that U.S. international traveler screening for COVID is going to end at 12:01AM on 14 September 2020.
Currently travelers are subject to (though many reports indicate it isn’t 100 percent by any measure) having their temperatures taken and their basic health observed and questions answered. This interview provides the ability to reach out in the form of contact tracing should there be a need.
With the removal of the health screenings, travelers into the United States will proceed directly to immigration control and then customs.
Apparently the decision was made at the White House and an annoucement can be expected in the coming days — why the need for hush-hush handling is beyond us.
