Lufthansa Strike will affect travel 7-8 November

Traveling on Lufthansa or any of it’s group of airlines this week? Fair warning, on 7 and 8 November, all five will be subjected to a 48-hour strike by called by its flight attendant union. Expect severe disruption at the Frankfurt and Munich gateways.

Call for strike by the UFO

On 02 November, the German Independent Flight Attendants Organization (UFO) said that the flight attendants voted for a strike. Today, 05 November, the UFO announced a 48-hour strike for 07-08 November.

UPDATE 06 November: Lufthansa, in an effort to stave off the strike the airline requested the courts intervene with an injunction. The German court this morning declined to do so and approved the UFO’s call to strike.

Lufthansa advises, they will publish a revised flight schedule between 13.00h and 15.00h CET for Thursday and Friday and will rebook by Wednesday evening all affected passengers onto other flights.

All five of the group’s airlines are affected - Lufthansa, Eurowings, Germanwings, Sunexpress Germany and Lufthansa Cityline - with the Frankfurt and Munich airport gateways heavily affected.

Lufthansa’s response

In a statement published on 05 November, the airline condemned the strike and advised that adjustments to flight schedules for 07 and 08 November would be published on Wednesday, 06 November.
