Today we learned from the Baja California Sur state prosecutors office that the body of ex-pat Craig Harrison (65-year-old) was found on the beach in Cabo Pulmo on 05 September.
Murder
An autopsy of Harrison showed he had been stabbed in the chest. How his body ended up in the ocean is unknown.
Cabo Pulmo is located mid-distance between San Jose del Cabo and Las Barriles on the coast of the Sea of Cortez.
Harrison, with his wife Lori ran “The Cabo Harrisons” a vacation rental and real estate company in Cabo San Lucas.
The company’s web page describes Harrison as
“…born and educated in South Africa, immigrating to Canada in his mid-20’s. Gaining Canadian-Citizenship, he lived in Vancouver for almost 20 years, building one of Western Canada’s Premier Import Wine Businesses and after picking up the importation rights for Corona to Western Canada, the Harrisons’ made their first investments in Cabo in the 1980’s in vacation condos, for use and rental. In that late 1990’s – after vacationing to and investing in Mexico for 15 years, they decided to move to Cabo permanently, establishing both a vacation rental business and a B&B - Vacation Villa.”

The U.S. Embassy has declared all of Mexico a “Do Not Travel,” largely due to COVID concerns and offer the following concerning Baja California Sur:
Exercise Increased Caution
Exercise increased caution due to crime.
Criminal activity and violence occur throughout the state, including in areas frequented by U.S. citizens. Bystanders have been injured or killed in shooting incidents related to criminal organization turf battles. Petty crime occurs frequently in tourist areas.
There are no restrictions on travel for U.S. government employees in Baja California Sur, which includes tourist areas in: Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo, and La Paz.
