Thanksgiving 2022 - Thanks from Securely Travel

Spread the knowledge with a share:

Today, 24 November 2022 is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. Each year, since President Lincoln created the national holiday in 1863, the people of the United States reflect upon their family, friends, and colleagues and collectively give thanks. We wish to do the same.

Travel, according to the TSA, is back at pre-pandemic levels. We’re thankful we are here to help you navigate through it securely and safely.

We gives thanks this Thanksgiving

We are 56 months old this Thanksgiving. We are thankful for your readership, comments and support. For those of you who were with us at the birth of Securely Travel you know we have morphed, pivoted and had to maneuver through a few changes in direction. We are happy to say, we are still here and we survived the pandemic.

In 2022, we expanded our team with the arrival of Barbara Schluetter to Securely Travel. She is conducting research, providing content, working with our travel safety and security briefings, and and giving us a more diverse perspective.

Securely Travel - Happy Thanksgiving 2022

Who are you, our readers?

Readers come from 132 different countries. With more than 75 percent from the United States. Readers from Canada, Mexico, Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom combine to form 7.6 percent of our readership. We are thankful that our content is resonating with such a diverse audience.

We know how people find us.

The search engines do their job and bring readers to our pages, as more than 95 percent of you come to us via a search for a specific piece of information, with primary interest being on travel to Mexico, travel safety, lost passports, dealing with emergencies while traveling, and general travel questions. The remaining 5 percent come to us because of you, our readers, via word of mouth, you tell others about Securely Travel and we are grateful for the endorsement.

And, what has us really smiling is we have had over 200 different entities refer readers to us directly.

We are thankful this Thanksgiving Day.

We are on the Social Networks

You connect with us on a variety of social networks, and we encourage you to do so.

Admittedly we are more adroit within some of the above than others, but rest assured we are improving with every engagement. In addition you may subscribe directly to the site and receive the posts, as they are crafted directly to your email inbox.

Resources we engage for you

Securely Travel - OSAC Member

Securely Travel is a proud member of the U.S. Department of State Overseas Advisory Council (OSAC). We attended the 2022 OSAC Annual Briefing and made an array of contacts, as well as learned what is top of mind of those whose responsibility is to keep their travelers safe. Our takeaway was to adjust our briefings and focus, which you will see in 2023.

Securely Travel - Weather Ready Nation Ambassador

We are also a Weather Ready Ambassador (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration). We have direct access to the NOAA content and draw from these resources during major weather events. We also feed the raw information as presented by the National Weather Service directly into our Securely Travel Alerts.

Securely Travel - FEMA Logo

We are plugged into the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and each morning received their brief and update, and share their content with you in our Securely Travel Alerts.

We also are on the automated distribution of official travel advisory feeds of the United States, Canada, Singapore, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. When these countries update a travel advisory, it shows up on our advisory pages. Finally, at the outset of the pandemic in early-2020, we created a micro-mirror site to the Center for Disease Control which is accessible from the top of every page of every post.

Our Securely Travel Alerts are created using information from the above sources, as well as, our numerous topical persistent searches, proprietary information subscriptions, and various news feeds. These are all fed into our hands automatically and we use some pretty fancy AI tools to search through the fire hose of data which flows to us every day.

What’s coming down the path

We published an eBook safety and security guide for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and will be producing more eBooks on topics of interest with the first of 2023 dealing with the “Lost or Stolen Passport.” In addition we intend to increase our reviews of products and services we find of interest. Finally, our travel safety and security briefings, with our country briefs can be expected to increase in frequency and cadence. To sum it up, there will be an uptick in content that you, the reader may use to keep your travel safe and secure.

Thank you

We wish you a wondrous Thanksgiving and again, we are deeply appreciative of your readership, sharing of comments and suggestion on content.

Happy Thanksgiving 2022

Thank You!
